Grill Often, Grill Safely

Now that the nice weather is here, it’s important to ensure you can enjoy the weather and eliminate any hazards that an outdoor barbecue can cause. Location, Location, Location!

  • Gas, grease and location are the three main things to be aware of along with safety checking your grill before use.
  • Keep your grill away from the house, the fence, the trees, overhangs and anything else that might be burn.
  • Never grill in an enclosed area. Proper ventilation is imperative but always keep a fire extinguisher close at hand just in case.

Don’t get All Fired Up!

Never use gasoline, starter fluid, wood or charcoal briquettes on a natural gas or propane barbecue. As well, never, ever use water on a grease fire. It will cause the flame to flare up higher. Water and oil to not mix. That’s why the fire extinguisher it is important to have close at hand. You need to be prepared to fight a fire since they can literally explode if left to burn. If you’re putting out a grease fire keep a safe distance and if you are using a fire extinguisher ensure that you know how to use it.
